The Broken Letter, Divorce Through The Eyes of a Child
Published in Paperback by Shannon Publishers (01 January, 2000)
Authors: Carl Lawrence, Thomas Myers, Sean Lawrence, Jeremy Dodger, and Raul Ries
Average review score:

I sobbed when reading this book.
Being a mother of four boys with an absent father, I felt thisbook might be for me. This book is an "easy read", takingonly a few hours to complete. As I read it, I experienced the pain andlonliness of "Randy" the child of divorce. I saw him react to the absence of his father and pictured my own boys in the same situation. This book provides an intensly honest look at our "Fatherless Generation". We have come to take for granted that all will "work out" without fathers. This story shows, in devastating detail, how children need BOTH parents in their lives. Both mothers and fathers should read this book, whether married, separated or divorced...this book will have a powerful impact on the value you place on the family unit. Our children's lives are at stake!

Brunnstrom's Clinical Kinesiology
Published in Hardcover by F A Davis Co (15 January, 1996)
Authors: Elizabeth Lawrence Weiss, L. Don Lehmkuhl, and Laura K. Smith
Average review score:

A must for any health professional
I love his book because it explains the function of each and every area of the body so well. It makes studying muscle OIAs and palpation so easy. Very detailed explanation of the use and structure of the skeletal system. It gives better understanding on the pathological conditions in the bones and soft tissues in each area of the body. I would compare this book with Joint Structure & Function A Comprehensive Analysis by Cynthia Norkin and Pamela Levangie. Both books explains muscular and skeletal functions but Brunnnstrom covers a lot more areas of the musculoskeletal system.

The California auto dealer legal manual

Much Better Book Than Doctor Who Interference
Very concise and full of information on owning a car in California, DMV regulations etc. Much better than the revisionist pulp of his other books, Doctor Who Interference 1 and 2.

California: The Politics of Diversity
Published in Paperback by Wadsworth Publishing (11 November, 1999)
Author: David G. Lawrence
Average review score:

Politics of the Golden State
This is a great textbook, if you are teaching a whole cooure in California politics, or if you give at least two weeks in your American Politics class to California politics. There is a lot of content here, and some good photographs, too. The book contains more information than Gerston's and Christensen's "California Politics: A Practical Approach" (see one of my previous review to learn more about this book), but Gerston and Christensen make a better use of empirical data than Lawrence.

If you feel like going for a lot of information on California politics, then pick up this book. Also, be aware that in addition to facts, this book does theorize from beginning to end, which is something not found in Gerston and Christensen. The book is an easy reas and it puts histroical and political information into a cogent theoretical framework. I certainly recommend it to people wishing to learn more about the politics of the Golden State.

Cancer Management: A Multidisciplinary Approach
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Publisher Research & Representation, Inc. (March, 1999)
Average review score:

Great quick reference
This book is an excellent abbreviated reference for anyone dealing with hematology/oncology (nurses, pharmacists, residents). It has a very logical format and is updated annually. The prior year version is on-line for free (currently 2001) on cancernetwork.com. The references for chemotherapy regimens are helpful and the explanations of radiological and surgical procedures are easy to understand. By all means, it does not replace William's Hematology or DeVita's Oncology references, but is definitely a great place to start.

Cape Hatteras: America's Lighthouse
Published in Paperback by Cumberland House (July, 1999)
Authors: Thomas Yocum, Bruce Roberts, Cheryl Shelton-Roberts, and H. Lea Lawrence
Average review score:

Review by Homer H. Hickam
Cape Hatteras: America's Lighthouse is a treasure to all of us who love what is arguably the most famous lighthouse in the world. The authors should be commended for writing not only a fascinating look into the past and future of this great beacon, but also a damn fine tale of passion, perseverance, intrigue, romance, grand schemes, utter calamities, and vast heroism.

This is an important bit of American history but it is not a dry text. This book is a real page-turner, one that will illuminate your mind as surely as the Hatteras lighthouse on a frightening, dark sea. Like the mariners which once depended on the light to skirt a dangerous coast, after you finish reading this book, you will be grateful for the experience.

Caresse: A Loving Touch

Author: Margaret B. Lawrence
Average review score:

FROM HEARTBREAK TO TRIUMPH
Margaret Lawrence takes the heartbreaking story of an abused child and her equally abused mother to depths of poignancy and triumph, yet creates a terrific romantic suspense with knock-out courtroom drama and a surprise ending. This deserves a wide readership for both the subject matter and the superb storytelling.
